Using ZUGA

These terms apply to use of ZUGA Marketplace at zugamarket.com. By creating an account or using marketplace functions, you agree to these terms and our Safety & listing rules. Our Privacy policy explains how information is handled. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use transactional marketplace features. Mandatory consumer and privacy rights continue to apply.

Accounts and eligibility

You must be at least 18 and able to enter agreements under applicable law. Provide accurate account information, keep credentials private, and contact support if you suspect unauthorised access. You are responsible for activity you authorise through your account. Do not impersonate anyone, create deceptive stores or use another person's contact details without permission.

Our role and your transaction

ZUGA helps users publish and discover listings, follow stores and connect with sellers. Unless expressly stated for a specific offer, the seller is the person or business identified in the listing, and ZUGA is not the seller or the employer, landlord or agent behind that offer. Except for Holiday Homes bookings described below, ZUGA does not provide integrated checkout, payment custody, escrow, shipping or a purchase-protection programme.

Buyer and seller must agree the final price, payment method, delivery or collection, inspection, warranty and any cancellation or return arrangements. Do not describe a payment as held or guaranteed by ZUGA. Platform availability is not a guarantee of a user's identity, ownership or ability to complete a transaction.

Holiday Homes bookings, payments and cancellations

  • Where online booking is offered (currently stays priced in Nigerian naira), the guest pays the full stay to ZUGA when requesting it, by Paystack or by bank transfer to ZUGA's own account. ZUGA collects that payment as the host's limited payment-collection agent and holds it until it is paid out or refunded.
  • The total shown before payment is what the guest pays: the nightly price for the nights booked, any cleaning fee, any cleaning-service visits the guest adds, ZUGA's service fee, and VAT, which applies to all of these. Any refundable caution deposit is not collected by ZUGA; the host may request it directly at check-in and must return it as agreed.
  • Hosts must accept or decline a paid request within 24 hours, or before check-in if sooner. If the host declines or does not answer in time, the guest is refunded in full.
  • On the check-in day, ZUGA pays the host the nightly price, cleaning fee and any cleaning service into the bank account the host registered. ZUGA keeps its service fee and accounts for the VAT. Payouts made by bank transfer may take up to one working day to arrive.
  • Guest cancellation (Moderate policy): cancel at least 5 days before check-in for a full refund of the nightly price, cleaning fee and cleaning service; cancel later and half of the nightly price is refunded, with the cleaning fee and cleaning service refunded in full. ZUGA's service fee is refunded only when cancelling within 48 hours of payment. Stays cannot be cancelled online once check-in day has started; contact support.
  • If a host cancels a confirmed stay, the guest is refunded in full and the host receives nothing for that booking. Repeated host cancellations may lead to listings being removed.
  • Card and Paystack payments are refunded to the original payment method. Bank-transfer bookings are refunded by ZUGA to the account the guest names, usually within one working day.
  • Never pay a host directly or outside ZUGA for a stay booked on ZUGA. Payments made outside ZUGA are not held by ZUGA and cannot be refunded by ZUGA.

Stores and listings

  • List only items, property or opportunities you are legally authorised to offer. Follow applicable laws, licensing rules, taxes and our Safety & listing rules.
  • Use accurate photos and descriptions. Disclose defects, condition, availability, material restrictions and any extra charges before agreement.
  • Your store country determines its listing market and currency. Changing a browsing location does not move the store or convert its existing prices.
  • Review every AI-generated title, description, category and price before publishing. AI assistance is not verification, a valuation guarantee or professional advice.
  • Keep listings current and remove or mark unavailable offers appropriately. Obtain rights to the text, photographs, trademarks and other content you publish.

Auctions and bids

Place bids only with a genuine intention and ability to complete the purchase. Do not use fake accounts or coordinated bids to manipulate prices. The auction screen shows the currency and current bid. A bid near the end may extend the closing time as displayed. The winning buyer and seller should contact each other promptly to confirm lawful completion. Any binding effect of a bid or sale is subject to applicable law and the disclosed terms. ZUGA does not collect an auction payment or guarantee completion.

Returns, refunds and disputes

Before buying, ask the seller about inspection, delivery, returns and warranty terms, and keep written records. Contact the seller first about a faulty, missing or misdescribed item. If unresolved, report the listing and issue to ZUGA through Help & contact. We can review platform conduct and take action on listings or accounts, but cannot promise recovery of money paid outside the service.

No listing, seller policy or provision here excludes rights that applicable consumer law makes mandatory, including remedies for defective or misdescribed goods where those rights apply. There is no separate ZUGA refund programme for payments made directly to sellers. You may use applicable payment-provider dispute processes and local consumer authorities.

Your content and our service

You retain ownership of content you submit. You grant ZUGA permission to host, reproduce, resize, display and distribute it as needed to operate and promote the marketplace, including listing previews and store-follow notifications. This permission does not give ZUGA ownership of your content and is subject to your privacy rights and legal retention requirements. Do not copy or misuse another user's content or interfere with the service, scrape personal data, upload malware or attempt unauthorised access.

Reports, restrictions and account closure

We may review reports, remove prohibited or misleading content, restrict features, or suspend accounts where reasonably needed to address legal obligations, safety, fraud or a breach of these terms. Contact support to explain a suspected mistake or request review. You can request account closure through support. Records may be retained where legally required or reasonably necessary for unresolved disputes or fraud prevention.

Service limits and applicable law

The service may change or be interrupted. To the extent permitted by applicable law, ZUGA is not responsible for losses caused by independent users, external services or events beyond its reasonable control. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, or removes mandatory consumer, privacy or other legal protections. Laws and dispute rights that compulsorily apply in your jurisdiction remain applicable; these terms do not impose an exclusive foreign court or compulsory arbitration.

Contact us first so we can try to resolve a concern. We may update these terms and will communicate significant changes where required. Paid services, if introduced, must disclose their price and separate conditions before you commit.
